Kerrang Textual Analysis - Double Page Spread

Kerrang! Double Page Spread Analysis


· Main focus of the article is the picture which is a picture of the band “New Found Glory” in which there stances mainly portray a very hardcore pop-punk image
· Then image itself has the five bands member arranged in a line formation. It appears to be that they are in importance of where they would be as if they were on stage
· The background of the image is purple velvet which adds to the rock’n’roll glam factor.
· On top of the picture in the right hand corner is an a banner which is overlaid upon the main image which lets the reader no at a quick glance what band the article is about.
· The second main focal point of the article is the main headline which is on the left hand side which is a quote from the article
· The text of this header is in a very typical font apart from the emphasis upon “always” which is larger than the rest of the text and is in a very stylised font to further portray there hardcore image.
· To left of the article there is subtext which is a very brief summary of what the article is about. Also there is ellipsis to make the reader want to continue to read the article
· Above the article on the right hand side there is also another quote with a dotted banner around it to give emphasis upon the quote also the colours of the banner are stylistic to the article
· All text has been placed in an overlay on top off the picture
· Drop letters have been used within the article to draw attention to the text and make a beginning impact
· At the end of the article there is album and gig information in small text at the bottom of the page which is an unusual code and convention
· Above the article there is the information of the person who wrote the article and took the pictures.
